Problems with two-piece bottom brackets begin with the bearings. The inner race and outer race of the bearings are flexible and can be deformed easily by improper fitment. This happens during most press fit bottom bracket installations. When one-size-fits-all housings are squeezed into an under sized frame shell the resulting deformation of the outer race is called radial compression which leads to bearings that underperform and don't last the bearings are never perfectly aligned causing internal misalignment in each bearing inducing drag and accelerating wear these factors lead to rapid failure and in many cases the system literally comes apart.
