BBInfinite Ceramitech Pulleys VS. Stock Pulleys

BBInfinite Ceramitech Pulleys VS. Stock Pulleys

It's not a fair fight at all. Stock road and mountain bike pulleys are one of "those places" component manufacturers cut costs in their systems, and boy does it show. Ceramitech pulleys dominate. For a direct link to our Pulleys Page. Ceramitech pulleys are the logical performance leap forward for anyone looking to ride faster right out of the box. Let's compare stock pulleys to our incredible Ceramitech pulleys so you can see how easy it is to increase your speed and shifting performance in a matter of minutes. Now I've replaced one of the pulleys in the derailleur cage of this Shimano Dura Ace derailleur to show you how the stock pulley spins. Now let's just give that Ceramitech pulley a spin, and as you can see there is a marked difference in performance. The same goes for this SRAM Red 22 derailleur. I went ahead and swapped one of the pulleys right here. It's about the same as that Dura Ace. These are brand new, of course. Compared to the Ceramitech pulley. Now as you can see, you're going to be getting a serious performance boost, right out of the box, just based on the bearing performance alone. Now the 9100, R8000, and R7000 series derailleurs from Shimano can handle these 14 tooth monsters without a problem. We have that same amazing Ceramitech spin, as you can see, and add to that the larger diameter, which reduces chain pin working angles, thereby greatly reducing friction at all of the point of articulation. With these oversize pulleys we're effectively straightening the chain out as much as possible to eliminate all the parasitic drag that we can. These huge pulleys make each shift more responsive due to the narrow-wide format as well, for a third point of enhancement over the stock pulleys. What you see here in the older style pulleys, which is a stock size, the small teeth only engage with the narrowest link, as you can see right there. So, when it gets to a wide link it's basically swimming around inside, so as this pulley is trying to shift the chain on the cassette, what is happening is, it is only engaging with every other link, which actually slows down the responsiveness of the shifting, as compared to one of these narrow-wide pulleys. You can see that it engages with the narrow link, of course, very easily, and also with the wide link. There's no play in either one of these. And this means that this entire pulley surface area is being used to affect a shift, which is why you'll see that increase in shifting performance and that snappiness even though the pulleys are much larger. So there you have it; Ceramitech jockey pulleys are what you need to reach that next that next level of speed. Explore our pulleys to see all the ways you can become Infinitely faster.
